Racecourse Iffezheim

The spring meeting for horse lovers and spectators

Attention horse lovers! From May 30 to June 3, the Iffezheim racecourse will once again host its big spring meeting. As the first of the three major annual gallop meetings in Iffezheim, it opens the meeting season in the anniversary year 2018.

Starting with an after-work race day on Wednesday, the May 30, the meeting will first be dedicated to the family on the second day with mascot races and a children’s festival. At this May 31 and on 2. and June 3, the races are scheduled, among others the “Badener Meile”, which is endowed with 70,000 Euros, the “Wackenhut Mercedes-Benz Silver Whip” as well as the “Ittlingen Derby Trial”, a Group III race, which is one of the most important Derby preliminary tests in Germany.

The Grand Prize of the Baden Economy

The Grand Prize of Baden Business will also be awarded on June 3. This Group II race is part of the German Racing Champions League and supports the RTL foundation “Wir helfen Kindern” as part of a charity campaign. On June 1, the Baden-Baden Auction Company (BBAG) traditionally holds its spring auction, where Thoroughbred young horses can be purchased at auction.

The horse racing track in Iffezheim, just a few kilometers from Baden-Baden, celebrates its 160th anniversary this year. In 1858 the racecourse had been built on the initiative of Edouard Bénazet and with the Franco-German war of 1870/71 its foundation phase had been completed. After several periods of pause due to the two world wars, the racecourse developed into the largest training center for horse racing in Germany in the 1950s. The spring meeting has been held since 1972. The organizer since 2010 is Baden Racing.
